Fiji National University (FNU) graduates were reminded yesterday to remain focus on their career choices.

FNU Chancellor Ikbal Jannif made this statement while addressing the 905 graduates who graduated yesterday.

Mr Jannif reminded the graduates that there were still many challenges that lay in their way and it was vital that they applied the lessons learned at FNU.

“The quality of your qualification will mean nothing if your attitude at work does not endear you to your workmates.  Your qualification will get you the job, but your ability to work as a team player will ensure that you remain in employment,” he said.

“It’s not going to be easy out there. Competition for jobs is high and you have to be prepared to stake your claim and prove that you are a worthy candidate.”

Mr Jannif urged the graduates to utilise the initiatives in place by Government who had placed a greater emphasis on better access to education for every individual.

“The establishment of technical colleges in various regions around the country shows Government’s vision and commitment towards addressing skills shortages in critical areas like construction, agriculture and tourism,” he said.
