Support Rewa: Rodu

Marika Rodu is pleading for Rewa fans to support the ‘Delta Tigers’ in the 2015 Vodafone Fijian FACT which starts on Sunday.

The Rewa football coach is trying his best to canvass support for the team after the Fiji Football Association ruled that Vodafone Fijian U20 squad members will not play.

And Ba Football has requested the Fiji Football Association to release their U20 players to be released for the Vodafone Fiji FACT.

“We will decide on Ba Football’s request,” Kumar said.

“We’ve already ruled that no national U20 reps will play in the Fiji FACT. But whatever happens, Ba will still play.”

However, this issue is a continuing dispute brewing ahead of the tournament.

Rewa will play without Garish Prasad, Tevita Waranaivalu, Iosefo Verevou and Setareki Hughes when they host Suva at Ratu Cakobau Park on Sunday.

Rodu revealed there was so much doubt among Rewa supporters about their chances of winning.

“The unavailability of the four U20 players has created debate among our fans,” Rodu said.

“The fans doubt our chances in the Fiji FACT without the U20 players.

“I’m doing my level best to motivate the remaining players to maintain focus on the task ahead. This means four players will have to fill in big shoes.

“My only request for the fans is to continue to support the team, despite the absence of the four U20 players. The Rewa fans presence on Saturday will motivate the team.”

Rodu was optimistic of a positive outcome on Sunday.

“Suva remains the in-form team in our pool,” Rodu said.

“They just competed in the Fiji Airways OFC Champions League and they are the team to beat in our pool.

“We expect nothing less than a very strong, determined and fitter Suva team. Our goal is to attack more, defend well and win all our matches.”

Meanwhile, Rodu confirmed that the only inclusions from the transfer window were Amani Makoe, Roneil Ram & Isimeli Batiratu.

The 2015 Vodafone Fiji FACT starts this weekend at Govind Park in Ba and Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

Games this weekend:

Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori (Pool A): 10am U16 fixtures; 2pm Labasa-Tailevu Naitasiri, 4 Rewa- Suva.

Govind Park, Ba (Pool B): 10am U16 fixtures; 2pm Nadroga-Nadi; 4 Ba-Lautoka.
