Boost For Reps

Fiji Football Association received $200,000 from the Fiji National Sports Commission yesterday.

This is to assist in preparation and participation of the Vodafone Fijian Under-20 for the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand in next month.

$200,000 will goes towards the preparation and participation of the U20 team. Fiji FA was also reimbursed $117,000 for the preparation of the Oceania Football Confederation U17 Championship in Samoa in January.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar acknowledged the sponsorship made by the FNSC.

“It is an honour for us to receive a substantial amount of money and I would sincerely thank everyone and the Bainimarama government for the support,” Kumar said.

“This sponsorship is a great help to the team and will really boost the team with their preparation.”

Meanwhile, FNSC chairman Peter Mazey said the sponsorship was one way of helping the youths. The FIFA U20 World Cup runs from May 30 to June 30.

The Fiji U20 team will be playing Germany in their opening match in June 1.
