The Lambert Sarju coached Shop N Save Lautoka team face a baptism of fire on Sunday.

The Blues need to be at their best when they play the 4R Electrical Ba in the first round of the 2015 Vodafone Fiji FACT at Govind Park in Ba. Fresh from taking part in the Fiji Airways OFC Champions League that ended last weekend, the ‘Men in Black’ aim to win back the title they last won in 2010.

Ba has the advantage but Sarju said it was a matter of playing it right.

“We had a long break but the preparation has been good,” he said.

“Ba has the upper hand after playing in the Champions League but we will be out to match them.”

He said winning the first game was crucial in any given tournament.

“We are confident the boys will deliver,” Sarju said.

Promising player Shiron Naidu has been ruled out the competition after he was injured during the TIV Sangam IDC in Suva.

“We should cope as there are other players in the team that will take his spot,” Sarju said.

“Definitely, it will be a tough playing Ba at their home ground but should be a good test for us.”

The team will be banking on striker Ratu Josevata Dugucagi, Alvin Avinesh (midfielder), Zibraaz Sahib (defender), Justine Edward (striker), and Sairusi Bokini (goalkeeper).

The Blues won the FACT in 2000 and 2002 while Ba appeared in 10 finals winning eight titles since 1991.

Nadi out to defend title

The Jack’s/Chicken Express Nadi football team will leave no stone unturned in their aim to defend their title. Nadi Football president Navaneeda Goundar said the side was ready to go against Nadroga.

“We started with our training last week and I’m confident are ready to defend our title again,” Goundar said. “We have young and potential players who will feature the side.”

Goundar said regardless of the side losing key players they can still win.”

The Jetstters will be out to defend its title of the third consecutive year and will take on the Nadroga side at 2pm in its opening match at Govind Park in Ba.
