Eight In Line For Leawere’s Job

The Fijian Teachers Association has received eight applications for the position of assistant general secretariat.

Incumbent Mikaele Leawere has resigned after being appointed the newest Member of Parliament early this week.

“I have given in my resignation letter, so I am definitely out of the race,” Mr Leawere said.

The Fijian Electoral Commission has confirmed him as the new Member of Parliament, replacing the late Ratu Viliame Tagivetaua, of the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) who died after a short illness.

Meanwhile, Fiji Teachers Association treasurer Joji Nakaora said recent internal operations had been submitted for approval by the board and implemented to improve internal control measures.
