SODELPA And Native Congress Warned Over Facebook Postings

Two Opposition organisations were yesterday warned after fake Fiji Sun pages were posted on their Facebook pages.

The organisations are the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) and Fiji Native and Tribal Congress, a pressure group headed by leading SODELPA figures.

Both organisations were served letters warning they must remove the postings by 6 last night.

Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas had advised SODELPA general secretary Pio Tabaiwalu and Congress Trust Board member Jese Sikivou of possible legal proceedings and criminal prosecution. But he said he hoped good sense would prevail.

Mr Lomas said Fiji Sun lawyers PatelSharma had instructions to take action where needed.

The postings appeared to have been made by “Friends” of the two organisations and allowed up by the page administrators.

Mr Lomas had previously warned that the Fiji Sun would take immediate action to protect the newspaper and its staff from vicious attacks like this.
