Trial Runs At PNG Pacific Game Venues

The 2015 Pacific Games organising committee will run trials of the games venues on June 6-7 and June 21.

Pacific Games chief executive officer Peter Stewart said preparation was in its final stages and will be completed by May 31.

“On June 6-7 we will be running a number of tests and another on June 21,”Stewart said.

“We are almost there, it’s fantastic, it’s exciting to be in Port Moresby at the moment.

“And it’s even more exciting putting together the final plan and we are making sure that catering, transportation of the athletes is spot on.

“We have months and couple of days to put in the things that we need to do to make it work.”

Stewart also gave his assurance that it would be one of the best game venues in the Pacific.

“We have some best venues in the world being developed at the moment,”Stewart said.

“After the Pacific Games, Port Moresby will probably have some best sporting venues in the Pacific.”

The Games have also contributed positively to PNG economic sector.

“There is continuous construction going on, the Games is also providing business development in PNG.”

A total of 4000 athletes are expected in PNG and Stewart has given his assurance that security will not be a problem.

“I find Port Moresby a wonderful place to live in. We will do everything that we can to ensure safety in PNG.

“The opening ceremony will be a spectacular event you have ever seen.

It’s a big secret. It will be the amazing culture performance.”
