A delegation from Latin America arrived in Suva this week to attend the Annual Conference of Christian Mission Fellowship International at Kinoya, Nasinu.

The delegation includes representatives from CMFI affiliates in Costa Rica, Argentina and Columbia and is led by Dr Javier Espinoza from Costa Rica, who provides the link between CMFI and the Latin American churches.

Latin America is the most recent addition to the CMFI network and joins the networks already established in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and the Pacific.

In 2012, CMFI sent a team of six pastors from Fiji to conduct training for the church affiliates in Latin America as part of a church mobilisation strategy, developed by CMFI.

Since its establishment as a church in 1990, CMFI has a key focus on world mission and the fulfillment of the Great Commission to “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”– (Matthew 28: 19 – 20).

This provides the impetus for the global reach of the church, which commissioned missionaries now present in five continents.

The 25th annual church conference has drawn thousands of church members from the 12 church divisions in Fiji and from the overseas churches and affiliates.

The evening church services have drawn thousands of viewers by livestream with a record number of 7000 viewers joining in from 26 countries around the globe.

The annual conference continues with the CMFI Business meeting yesterday and today and evening rallies.

The conference concludes tonight.
