The workshop on the eight-year strategic implementation plan on special and inclusive education started in Nadi yesterday.

This workshop coincided with the launch of the toolkit for disability inclusive education in Fiji at the Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi.

Executive director and chief executive officer for the Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons, Sitiveni Yanuyanutawa, said the events were important to people with disabilities.

“This is where we bring persons with disability, whether they are physically or mentally challenged.”

He said government implemented the inclusiveness policy in 2013.

“We will try to cover the eight-year programme that has been mapped out to allow persons with disability to access quality education.”

He forecast a bright future for people, especially children with disabilities in Fiji.

“With this consultation coming to end after two days, we hope that we will be able to have positive yards into the future.”
