Service Delivery Tops List Of Complaints

There has been an increase in complaints about service delivery by the Fiji Police Force in the Northern Division.

This was revealed by the Commissioner of Police,  Bernardus Groenewald,  during his visit to the North and met the heads of all stations around Labasa.

“This is part of the quarterly visit to the various divisions. I had a three-hour session with all the commanders,” Mr Groenewald said.

He said issues discussed focused on complaints against Police and service delivery, which was a challenge, and the outcome of the talanoa session was better than expected.

“The complaints against Police are with reference to what we are facing now. That is people are complaining to the press that they are not treated well or ill-treated,” Mr Groenewald said.

He said when it came to service delivery these people who complained were the ones who did not get any feedback on their cases.

Mr Groenewald noted that there would be people who had critical concerns which needed to be dealt on a one-to-one basis.

He reiterated that the Police force needed the co-operation of people in the Northern Division in terms of the community policing concept.

Meanwhile, the media was not allowed to attend the meeting between Mr Groenewald’s delegation and heads of Government departments at the Friendly North Inn in Labasa.
