The iTaukei Lands and Fisheries Commission will be revisiting Naila Village in Dravo, Tailevu, next week to sort out issues concerning their village leadership.

This follows concerns raised by some villagers as to why they were too slow in verifying the chiefly title of the Tui Cakova.

The commission’s chairman, Vananalagi Vesikula, said they would be back at the village next week to address the issue and clarify who was the rightful holder of the title.

Aisake Nakelo is currently holding the position.

Meanwhile, Mr Vesikula confirmed that they have recorded a reduction in the number of chiefly title disputes so far.

He said they have also identified that the cause of these disputes was because people were overstepping certain boundaries.

iTaukei Affairs Board deputy Chief executive officer Apakuki Kurusiga reminded the villagers that the boundaries of every village was determined by the landowners themselves.

He said they were the ones who had the final say on where the village boundaries should end.
