The Fiji Health Response Team to Vanuatu is now reviewing the Vanuatu Public Health Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) as well as the country’s Public Health Act.

Team leader and Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau said the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Engineers team completed a clean-up and renovations at the Onesua Presbyterian College and returned to Port Vila.

“The health team is now conducting food safety inspections in various supermarkets, butchers and shops within Port Vila and have also conducted awareness and onsite training to the Vanuatu public health team,” he said.

“They conducted mist blowing and public awareness in some settlements as well.

“Today marks the end of Fiji Response team’s engineering assistance as we reconsolidate to prepare for our trip back Fiji next week.”

The Engineers have completed the following tasks:

– Conducted clean-up and assessment at the Vanuatu Magistrates Court;

– Cleaning up at the Melanesian Spearhead Group shed in front of its main building;

– Clean-up, conducted re-roofing of passage and assessments at the Central School;

– Conducted clean-up and minor repairs at Vila Central Hospital; and

– Clean-up and repairs at the Police School compound.

The team is expected to return to Fiji next Wednesday.
