Police Commissioner Bernardus Groenewald has said that 10 children did not witness the assault during a drug raid at Viani in Cakaudrove.

This comes after a media organisation published that 10 students witnessed the incident and had been undergoing counselling by their teachers.

“The senior investigators are investigating the case. As far as I know, only three kids were involved. One was three years old, a four-year-old and a toddler,” Mr Groenewald said.

He said there were indications that 10 people were involved. According to reports only three children.

“I am not aware of the 10 children who saw the incident, According to investigations that was not true.”

He said Ministry of Education had stepped in to counsel the children.

“We need to liaise with the Ministry of Education because I am not aware of the involvement of 10 people.”

Meanwhile, a member of the public raised a concern of Police brutality at Labasa Police Station that officers spat on him and took photos of him while being naked.
