Vinod Patel Foundation has completed its renovation project at the Senior Citizens’ Home in Samabula, Suva.

The $6000 worth of renovation works carried out at the Home was part of Vinod Patel Foundation’s ongoing community programme.

Foundation secretary Atish Patel said: “The Senior Citizens’ Home in Samabula was in need of a face-lift as the conditions of several wards were deteriorating.

“Vinod Patel Foundation constantly looks for ways to give back to the community and this was a fantastic opportunity for us to not only support the home in terms of renovations, but it was also an opportune time for our team members to spend quality time with our senior citizens.

“We are proud to support our senior citizens and we are grateful to the Ministry of Health for allowing us to be part of this wonderful initiative. We are extremely delighted to play a small part in putting a smile on the faces of our senior citizens.”

It took a few months to complete the project. The work entailed cleaning interior and exterior parts of the ward, general painting, providing curtains and minor renovation work.

“I would like to take this opportunity to also thank members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for their support throughout the project,” Mr Patel said.

Mr Patel said they had partnered with the Ministry of Health before.

“Vinod Patel Foundation also has a ward at CWM Hospital and the intention is to provide a clean and healthy environment for the patients. Vinod Patel Foundation has taken the responsibility to maintain the ward,” he said.

“Vinod Patel Foundation will be delighted to participate in any other community project by the Ministry of Health should an opportunity arise. As mentioned earlier, we are looking at ways to make a difference in people’s lives and we will be more than happy to sign up for any other community-based project.

“Vinod Patel Foundation has been very active when it comes to community work and we have provided donations to community projects across Fiji. We are now taking it a step further by engaging a team to physically get involved in worthy causes. We are also planning to engage with other organisations in Fiji and we are hoping that it will give us an opportunity to get involved with environment, education or health based initiatives.”
