Westpac Microfinance Market Day has again boosted  the importance of micro entrepreneurship, said Westpac Fiji head of Marketing Nirmala Nambiar.

Yesterday the event saw  microfinance entrepreneurs filling the corridors of Downtown Boulevard on Ellery Street.

“Majority of the entrepreneurs are women,” Ms Nambiar said.

“Westpac’s Microfinance Markets have supported women by providing them a free avenue to come and sell their wares and network and learn from each other.

“Some of these entrepreneurs get noticed and their products are brought in wholesale and sold in department stores and pharmacies.”

The Day Market is held in partnership with the Fiji National Provident Fund.

This is part of the institution’s Westpac Microfinance Market programmes which also includes the ongoing Westpac Night Market at the Suva Car Park.
