Aerotown Suspect Appears In Court

The 45-year old suspect in last week’s Aerotown Mobil Service Station Jonetani Tawake appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday.

Appearing before Magistrate Chandani Dias, Tawake has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery related to robberies in the Western Division.

The Delanavesi resident has been remanded in custody till the 13th of this month and his case has been transferred to the High Court in Lautoka.

Tawake was one of the suspects from the Aerotown Mobil Service Station who was apparently left behind while the others drove off.

He had sustained injuries as Police swooped in on the robbery scene and had been admitted at the Nadi Hospital since last week under police custody.

Meanwhile, Police has confirmed that suspect Tupou Vuetaki was still being questioned for his alleged involvement in the Nadi service station robbery as well as a series of robberies between the Nadi-Lautoka corridors.

“The search continues for the other three suspects and investigations continue,” Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said.
