A house owner at Wakanisila in Kalabu collected more than $100 for the fees he got from those who watched the Fight of the Century at his home on Sunday.

He had put up a notice and residents in Wakanisila reponded positively to it.

Mickey Bird had been told that the money was for his unpaid water bills.

 

Wrong place

Security guard was called in to check on a campus at Tamavua after it was established that they were drinking in the campus.

Some young men were celebrating after the exams.

But liquor is not allowed on the campus.

High bridge?

There is a strong debate in a village in one of the districts in Central Division on a new bridge to ease their crossing over the river.

A group is favouring a spot that can allow other members of the district to cross.

However, there is move by someone of a higher rank, for the bridge to be a spot better for the high family crossing.

 

3 chiefs, 1 village

The iTaukei Affairs consultation team on Friday was surprised to hear that there were three chiefs in just one village instead on one.

These three chiefs have their own people that listen to them.

Now another visit by the iTaukei Affairs will have to be done to sort out this traditional set up.

 

Land claims

A landowner in a village in Tailevu wants his land back just when the mahogany are about to be harvested.

The mahogany were planted by another clan.

This landowner said the land belonged to his forefathers but with no record.

iTaukei Affairs Ministry will now move in to establish the rightful owners.
