Fiji Ports Corporation Limited is in the process of establishing a Document Management System. It has engaged the services of Anoja Serasinghe for six months as project office for project.

Ms Serasinghe who is in the process of gathering information from all Fiji Ports Corporation departments as part of a requirement said the system has many benefits.

It includes maintaining data consistency and avoiding data redundancy.   It reduces accessing time and allows for the quick and easy locating and exchange of data and documents and minimizing the workload of entering and updating the date.

The Systems Application and Products in Date Management System (SAP-DMS) meets all the complex requirements, coordinating document processing.

It also allows for automation of the entrie life a document, from its creation to its storage, access and updating. Subject to authorization, individual documents can be accessed immediately from any computer limked into the network.

The system supports archiving and also allows for the storage and retrieval of technical drawings, plans, pictures and photographs,

Ms Serasinghe said it is also significant and relevant to Fiji Ports that the high-performing system meets ISO standards.
