Nadi Airport Temporary Drop-off Restrictions Come Online As Construction Works Continue

The temporary drop off zone for international passengers came online yesterday morning at 3am at the Nadi International Airport.

Airport Fiji Limited marshals in their new and slick blue t-shirts were ‘on the go’ and assisted international passengers with off-loading of luggage and given directions to check-in counters.

Farewellers will not be allowed in the international check-in hall for the next one year to allow construction to take place.

Airports Fiji Limited executive chairman, Faiz Khan, said: “There were some farewellers this morning who were disappointed at not being able to go in the check-in hall but overall people were most cooperative.

“We understand that in Fiji there is a culture for farewellers to sometimes literally come in a bus load to farewell their loved ones.

“The restriction will only apply during construction. We are asking for your patience and apologise if any inconvenience this restriction causes.

“Once the new check-in hall is built, we will have a world class facility for the people of Fiji and tourists to enjoy.

“Farewellers will be allowed back in the international check-in hall after construction.”

Airports Fiji Limited will be using containers for coming into the international check-in hall from the temporary drop-off area.

This will come online from tomorrow.

Mr Khan said these containers will be fully air-conditioned for the comfort of passengers.
