New Zealand-based Vodafone Fijian Under-20 football player Divikesh Deo has high hopes that they have a good chance of doing well in the FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Deo made his comments after the team visited the New Zealand High Commissioner’s residence in Suva on Tuesday.

“I have been playing football since I was 15 and it is massive for me to do this,” he said.

“Looking at this team we are fit and we hope to get something positive. The performance and fitness the team has is outstanding, It is a privilege and a blessing to be here in my homeland and playing for my country and this is the first time I’m participating in the Vodafone Fijian U20 football national team. We have a great set of boys who are willing to do anything for a win.

“The coach and trainers are very helpful and are well experienced in football which is a big boost to us.

Last night the side were treated to a special dinner at the Joji’s Restaurant at Damodar City where they were farewelled by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar.

They leave on May 12. They play a warm-up match in Australia before competin in the FIFA World Cup in New Zealand.
