It is difficult to establish primary schools on virtually every inhabited island in the Lau Group because of the number of small islands in the province.

Lau provincial administrator Eliki Masa said Government had made its utmost commitment to help in the establishment of schools in all islands in the Lau Group and facilitating manpower and resources so that its children could enjoy full access to education.

“In view of this, Government had established one vocational school based at Lakeba, four secondary schools based at Lakeba, Moala, Cicia and Vanuabalavu and 46 primary schools located at various villages in Lau.”

He said the total number of students attending schools in Lau was 2156 with 148 teachers.
