A significant part of the Fulton Hogan Hiways operation is capacity building, to provide career development opportunities for our staff, says general manager, Bill Caradus.

He said the company has introduced a programme with both on the job training and a number of workshops and seminars that have provided a pathway for promotion within the organisation.

He said the appointment of local civil engineers Jashneet Prasad, Bhan Prakash and Elifasi Kirikiti to department manager positions within the company is an endorsement of the programme. All three have replaced expatriates.

Jashneet Prasad, who joined Fulton Hogan Hiways as its renewals engineer in 2013, has been appointed Labasa Depot Supervisor.

Bhan Prakash is the new Urban Manager East.  He has been with Fulton Hogan Hiways for one year starting as its Urban Network Programme Manager.

Elifasi Krikiti was Rewa Depot Supervisor, joining Fulton Hogan Hiways in 2013.  He is now its Rural Manager West.

Mr Caradus said: “With a staff of 320 of which 93 per cent are locals, we’re providing enhanced training with positive results in staff development in all sectors of our work.

“This has gone far in delivering our road maintenance programmes in support of the Fiji Roads Authority.

“As part of our efforts, we continue to make key appointments.”

This is being done by bringing in road specialists from overseas to not only enhance the quality of work but to support the staff in their career development, providing international expertise to expand their knowledge.
