Meeting In Nadi To Discuss Livestock Development

A national stakeholder meeting will be held from May 12 to 15 in Nadi to raise awareness and share information on the changing landscape of livestock development in Fiji.

The national consultation, themed “Livestock for Livelihoods – new generation thinking”, is part of the Pacific Agriculture Policy Project.

The project is a major initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC). The consultation will be at Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi, Fiji.

The consultation will be facilitated by SPC’s Land Resources Division in conjunction with Fiji Ministry of Agriculture and Fiji Crop and Livestock Council.

The Deputy Director of SPC’s Land Resources Division, Ken Cokanasiga, said an expected output of the national consultation would be a strategy on the way forward for the development of Fiji’s livestock sector.

“The consultation will provide a platform for discussions and collective input into the proposed Fiji Livestock Feed Bill,” he said.

“There will also be discussions to raise understanding of the Fiji National Agriculture Policy 2020.”
