Strong Winds To Ease Off Today

Strong winds are being felt in the Northern Division.

The Director of Fiji Meteorological Services, Ravind Kumar, said a strong wind warning has been issued for Fiji waters.

“A warning goes out especially for Marinas. A strong wind warning is in force for the whole of the Fiji waters,” he said.

“Some swells may be generated through these strong wind warnings which have been there for a week. Please take heed of the weather warning coming from the meteorological office before going out to the sea because it’s better to take precautions.”

The strong winds are expected to ease gradually today.

“At the moment a strong wind warning remains in force in areas of southern Vanua Levu, Kadavu, Lau and southern Viti Levu Lomaiviti, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group,” Mr Kumar said.

“The winds are expected to ease gradually today because this is caused by the high pressure system formed in the southern part of Fiji.”
