Teachers Lend A Hand

More help from Fiji is heading to Vanuatu.

This time, the Fijian Teachers Association has donated school books and stationery worth $30,000 to the Vanuatu Teachers Union.

Cyclone Pam in February this year affected students from 150 schools in Vanuatu.

The association’s supervisor of project, Taito Draunidalo, said they have loaded 50 cartons of exercise books, 3 cartons of stationery and 2 boxes of steel and plastic rulers, along with boxes of hard cover books for the teachers.

“This donation is more of a gift from the Association to the students of Vanuatu who were greatly affected by Cyclone Pam,” he said.

Vanuatu Teachers Union General Secretary, Vincent Kapalu said the donation would help the students of Vanuatu immensely, since many of them have been extremely affected by Cyclone Pam.

“I am also very thankful to the Government of Fiji for sending the military soldiers to help in the rebuild of houses in Vanuatu that were badly damaged by the Cyclone,” Mr Kapalu said.
