North Pole Labasa will take on Rewa in the Vodafone Fijian FACT final at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, at 3pm today.

This is after both teams survived an entertaining semifinal against western giants Lautoka and Ba yesterday.

Labasa coach Bal Sanju Reddy said they needed to assess the injured players.

“Some of our key players are injured but we are optimistic we can fix it and be ready for the final,” Reddy said.

“We badly want to win the final and we are going in to win like true champions.”

The ‘Babasiga Lions’ last won the tournament in 1999 and with three FACT wins, Labasa are favourites because they are unbeaten in the tournament so far.

But standing in the ‘Lions’ way are the ‘Delta Tigers’.

Rewa aims to stop Labasa from winning after defeating 4R Electrical Ba in a pulsating semifinal last night.

An injury time strike from Shalvin Prasad in the second spell of extra time gave Rewa an emphatic 3-2 win.

Rewa coach Marika Rodu said they were working on a game plan to win.

“Our game plan really worked well against Ba and we are now targeting Labasa,” he said.

“We were disappointed with Ba’s performance because they didn’t play like a champion after taking part in the Fiji Airways OFC Champions League last month.

“Ba has no game plan and if we could shut a team like Ba, then Labasa should not be a problem.”

Ba and Rewa were both locked 1-1 after 90 minutes of play and the match went into extra time where Ba scored first before Rewa equalised and then scored again in the second spell of extra time to clinch a final spot today.
