Minister: Appreciate Mothers

There has been a plea for Fijians to appreciate their mothers, love and care for them.

The plea has come from the Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Veena Bhatnagar, while visiting residents of the Samabula Old People’s Home, Methodist Dilkusha Home at Davuilevu, Nausori.

She celebrated Mother’s Day, provided meals for residents and had lunch with them.

“Mother’s Day is not just for a day, it’s for every day. Today’s generation should appreciate the effort of their mothers. No matter what she is, she is always there for you,” Ms Bhatnagar said.

“I spent time with these mothers and children and even I feel bad because my mother is not here with me today.”

Her message to the parents and children was one of taking responsibility for and supporting their loved ones.

“Parents should take good care of their children. They should feed them with healthy thoughts and values so they can be good citizens of the country.” said Ms Bhatnagar.

“I feel bad about the children who do not have their parents with them today. Practically, there are parents who yearn for children’s love; even some do not get the respect they should be getting. Some children neglect their parents.”
