Aisa Nao believes Fiji would be one of the team to beat at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby in July.

Nao coached the Papua New Guinea women basketball team to win gold at the 1991 South Pacific Games.

“10 men’s teams and nine women’s team will take part over nine days,” Nao said.

“The top medal contenders in the competition in both men and women are Fiji alongside New Caledonia, Tahiti and Guam.”

American Samoa, Guam, Nauru, New Caledonia, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Fiji and Papua New Guinea are countries which would be sending both their men and women’s teams.

Nao believes the host’s team has a lot to prove in July.

“The PNG teams will surely have a lot to prove,” he said.

The women won gold in 1991 and the men have yet to register a win.

All matches will be played at the Taurama Aquatic Centre on July 3-10 and then move to the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium on the July 11-12.
