Seven non-governmental organisations (NGOs), that provide services to disadvantaged children, the elderly and people living with disabilities, shared more than $90,000 in grant from the Fijian Government.

The initiative was made possible through the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation where Minister Rosy Akbar handed out the assistance to the NGOs at the Civic House on Wednesday.

Meanwhile 12 disabilities organisations, that are affiliated to the Fiji National Council for Disabled Persons, were also handed out close to $110,000 in Government grants last month.

Ms Akbar told the recipients the initiative of the Fijian Government was to ensure inclusiveness at all levels that mandate all their policies, programmes and operations. The seven NGOs were part of the 19 civil society organisations that received a total grant of $200,000 that was provided by the Fijian Government.

The seven grant recipients are:
– St Christopher’s Home: $20,000
– Fiji Society for the Blind: $10,000
– Homes of Hope: $20,000
– The New Samaritan Mission International: $5000
– Dilkusha Homes Residential: $20,000
– Fiji Crippled Children’s Society: $11,000
– Trumpet Trust: $5,000
