Government Awaits Vunimoli Submission

There is no reaction and submission to date from residents of Vunimoli Settlement in Tamavua-i-Wai, Suva, on their relocation plan.

The residents were informed last year by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama that they were to be relocated to Wainadoi, outside the Lami Town boundary, to allow for the building of a new road through Vunimoli to Princes Road in Tamavua.

They were asked by Mr Bainimarama to submit their views about the proposal.

To date nothing has been received by the Ministry of Lands, Permanent Secretary Tevita Boseiwaqa said.

He said nothing had been considered because the residents had not made any submission.

“We are waiting for them to discuss things, but nothing has come to us. Unless something comes then we can assist them,” Mr Boseiwaqa said.

The residents, last year, had expressed mixed reactions over the proposal.
