The Kurabui Warriors rugby league team aims to make it to the final of the Vodafone Cup this year.

This comes after the team from Dreketi will be one of the eight teams taking part in this week’s competition at Dreketi Central College ground today.

Fiji National Rugby League development officer North Sanaila Dretivoli said teams were eager to start the rugby league season.

“The Kurabui Warriors are looking forward to defend their Vanua Levu rugby league title,” Dretivoli said.

Kurabui Warriors coach Ropate Vurawaqa said they look forward to defend their title this season.

“We are not going to underestimate any team,” Vurawaqa said.

“We’ve once proved ourselves to be the champions of Vanua Levu and we are planning to achieve this once again this year.”

Based in the village of Nakorocagi, Dreketi, Macuata, they secured their spot as the number one team in the Northern Zone after finishing at the top of the table with 16 points last year.

Participating teams include Namuavoivoi Roosters, Nasigasiga Eagles, Babitu Bulldogs, Vunisea Panthers, Nabavatu Stormers, Nakaba Raiders, Naua Rabbitohs.
