Mark One Sews Way Into High-class Fiji

Mark One Apparel has begun manufacturing high end women’s fashion clothing at its garment factory in the Kalabu Tax Free Zone.

Mark One Apparel managing director, Mark Halabe, highlighted this yesterday.

He indicated this high end fashion wear had a price tag of as high as about AU$950 per piece which was the price it was being sold in Australia for.

Mr Hallabe addressed delegates at the Fiji Institute of Accountants Congress 2015 which got underway at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort on Yanuca Island yesterday.

“Fiji is able to do world class manufacturing and we have already started,” he said.

“Watch over the next 25 years and it will grow. Fiji is in its golden age.”

Tertiary Education

The Fiji Fashion Week events over the past years has started a spark locally inspiring locals to become fashion designers, Mr Halabe said.

But, whilst the was very good news for Fiji, he notes it was concerning to see these aspiring designers did not have the accurate basic skills of cutting and sewing etc.

Mr Halabe has therefore highlighted the need for these aspiring designers to go through tertiary education.

He confirmed they have managed to convince the likes of University of the South Pacific, Fiji National University and the Technical College to start up courses targeting aspiring fashion designers.
