The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 team will need to put on a better performance if they expect to win their next game against Georgia in the 2015 World Rugby Under-20 Trophy.

Head coach Viliame Gadolo made the point Lisbon, Portugal as they prepare to tackle in their second game.

“Georgia played very aggressively last week and dominated Uruguay from the first whistle,” Gadolo said.

The boys have been constantly reminded of the importance of this game we have against Georgia.

“We’ve to work hard to improve our weaknesses last week and implement a bit more consistency in our game.”

Reflecting on the 34-19 win over Portugal in their first game on Wednesday, Gadolo was not pleased with some aspects of the team’s performance.

“The win was good but I was utterly disappointed with the way the boys played, the infringement rate was high which led to two yellow cards and we did not really play the way we had prepared.

“Portugal came out firing in front of their home crowd and really tested us.

“The disappointing thing was the boys know that they are much better than the way they played but that’s rugby and its good we were not on the losing side. The boys know that we cannot expect to play like that against Georgia who had a perfect start to the competition.”

Gadolo said recovery was an important part of their preparation for the next game and indicated consistency as a focus for this week.

“Recovery is very important and we had good recovery sessions yesterday and a day off rugby and we started this morning reviewing videos of the Portugal game a gym session in the morning and a team session this afternoon.

“We lacked consistency in our game last week in both defense and attack. So preparing for Georgia will see us working harder on our set pieces, our shape in attack and the tackle area.”

Fiji plays Georgia at 4am tomorrow.
