ADB President To Visit Fiji In August

The President of the Asian Development Bank is expected to visit Fiji in August.

Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Ariff Ali, confirmed this.

He said the plan was for the ADB President to meet with the Fijian Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and the Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Mr Ali said this gives Fiji the opportunity to meet a high level delegate.

“I think the last time the ADB President came to Fiji was over a decade ago. We haven’t had somebody senior come and visit Fiji since,” he said.

Mr Ali labelled this planned courtesy visit as very promising.

Mr Ali has just returned from the Asian Development Bank’s 48th Annual board of governors meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he led the Fijian delegation.
