Half-time messages

Senitiki Magitiyalewa, Naitasiri

As a school and club rugby coach, the simplicity and straightforwardness with which Ryan delivers his halftime messages are huge lessons learned.

He continuously points out the strengths and weaknesses of the Fijian boys play in the first-half, in terms of clearly articulated principles of attack/defence for the rugby union game.

Further he expounds so well on growth and improvements of this team in the world series using figures – percentages and numbers.

For our noting, there are no rooms for injured and unfit players in each tournament for each is selected on merit.

So no one is indispensable for there will always be a star in the making to be in the mould of Serevi, Ryder and Kunatani to name a few.

Thanks Ben, you surely reiterate to local coaches in Fiji about those potent missing dimensions that were always not given the priorities they deserve in the past.

Ben Ryan, humble, poignant, committed, motivational and chastises you for your own good. What a great model for any Fijian!

The Queensman

Epeli Rabua, Suva

The game of rugby may have been founded in the British Isles but Fiji has made its shortened version of 7s rugby, its own.

We are to 7s rugby what Brazil is to soccer.

Fiji’s 7s teams have always put the word “beautiful” into the game, akin to Brazil’s skill and dexterity in the game of soccer.

Along comes a Queensman from the British Isles, Ben Ryan, who has wrought his ‘Merlin magic’ over our 7s team and for the second time, Fiji is the World 7s Series Champions! Congratulations Mr Ryan – you have earned Fiji’s respect and gratitude.

Now Ben Ryan’s name can be mentioned in the same breath and awe with not only Fiji’s, but the World’s most revered exponent of the 7s game, the all-conquering player and coach – Waisale Serevi.

And we must never forget the Queensman’s players – they have personified his determination and as always with God’s divine blessings, have exemplified how beautiful the 7s game can be played.

The team, like others before them have become household names in Fiji and the World.

Congratulations Mr Ryan and team – we now look forward to you playing the beautiful game of 7s rugby before ‘Christ the Redeemer’ in Rio in 2016!

Thank you

Wise Muavono, Lautoka

Congratulations and well done on the exemplary and stellar performance of our 7s warriors.

I also offer my sincere appreciation and admiration to Ben and the behind-the-scene crew who worked tirelessly and making it possible for our Olympic qualification and winning the 2014-2015 Sevens World Series. Vinaka vakalevu.

To those demanding a public holiday to celebrate our series win, you can have your public holiday this Saturday. Kaila!

Well done, congratulations

Kirti Patel, Lautoka

Thank you boys! Once again you did it. The overturning final in Glasgow 7s was just amazing.

Deep inside my heart, together with various others, I knew we can do it. Of course God’s blessing showered on us once again.

To Ben Ryan all I can say, I have no words to describe just how amazing you are. You the man!

You simply rock! Our players were doing just fine before your entry but with your inclusion, we are glowing all over. We are all proud of you and the whole team. Once again win or lose, we are behind you.

Well done, USA

Allen Lockington, Nadi

What a game from the USA team. Now we have another team that can win a tournament; Fiji , and New Zealand better pull up our socks.

In the meantime good on you team USA.

The chief protagonists in this drama (Fiji Sun P3-18/5)ought to be reminded of what Jesus said in John 8 verse 7:” All right, Stone her.

But let those who have never sinned throw the first stones!”
