A Fiji Link ATR 42-600 flight bound for Labasa from Nausori Airport last Saturday afternoon was recalled after there was a technical issue experienced by the aircraft.

It is understood that the passengers boarded the aircraft and it flew half way when it started experiencing the technical problem.

The aircraft flew back to Nausori Airport where passengers got off and waited for an hour before they were told to board it again.

After boarding the flight for the second time, they were later called back and told that the flight was cancelled.

The flight got cancelled because it was late into the afternoon and that the Labasa airport is restricted to daylight operations only.

Fiji Airways manager Public Relations and Communications, Shane Hussein, confirmed there was a technical issue with the aircraft which needed rectification.

“The flight was cancelled since Labasa airport is restricted to daylight operations only,” Mr Hussein said.

It is understood most passengers were put on the supplementary flight bound for Labasa on Sunday morning.

“A supplementary flight was organised for disrupted passengers. We apologise for the inconvenience caused,” Mr Hussein said.
