The Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption (FICAC) is investigating the four supermarkets at the 4 major corrections centres in Fiji.

This was confirmed by Attorney-General and Minister for Finance, Public Enterprises, Public Service and Communication Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum in Parliament yesterday.

He was responding to a question from Opposition parliamentarian Ratu Sela Nanovo as to who owned these supermarkets.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said the supermarkets at the Suva, Naboro, Lautoka and Labasa prison centres  were the focus of the FICAC investigation.

“It would be prudent for me to comment any further as it would jeopardise or taint the investigations which is currently on foot but the member can be rest assured that there has been complaints lodged pertaining to some general functions and we will obviously bring it to the attention of the House once the matter is concluded by way of charges being made.
