The Government has no immediate plans to construct a jetty or small landing on Qoma Island in Tailevu, said Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Praveen Kumar.

This was revealed in Parliament yesterday after Opposition member Anare Vadei asked whether Government had any intention of building a jetty or a landing in Qoma to cater for residents and visitors to and from the island.

Mr Kumar responded saying that the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) had rolled out its plans for this year, however, some discussions were ongoing with the Commissioner Central.

He said there had been requests from the villagers in Qoma for the construction of a seawall that was also being looked into.
