A hybrid solar system was commissioned at the Safe Landing Resort at Nacula Island in the Yasawa Group.

This was made possible by the dealers and manufacturers of the American solar technology company, Cal Valley Solar Inc USA.

Fiji Development Bank general manager Relationships & Sales Tevita Madigibuli said it supported the hybrid plant under its sustainable projects loan scheme.

The $300,0000 plant means cleaner power which lights up the entire Safe Landing Resort 24-hours.

435 watts of power from each of the 24 panels is being be produced.

“We are passionate to assist towards the development of this project and I hope others will pick up from this.

“We need to enhance the power of the sun and use it as a natural resource as it is very clean,” he said.

He also hopes that one day most of the Yasawa group would light up through the power of the sun.

Cal Valley Solar Inc. USA/Fiji is a energy technology company which deals with commercial solar system sales and installation.

Executive Director Yashwant Singh says the system is designed after research is done at ground level physically.

“It was my dream to put light in the houses and today it has come true and I am really proud of that.

“We are here to make a difference and to give a solution to renewable energy,” Mr Singh said.

Pioneer of the Awesome Adventures Elenoa Nimacere, i Taukei Manager of South Sea Cruises got into tears to sea the development take place on the island.

“It is encouraging to see this impact. I am happy to be part of the tourism aspect as we have partnered with locals from the start.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police Isikeli Vuniwaqa was grateful to be part of the commissioning.

Cal Valley Solar has also commissioned some police posts in the interior of Namosi as well.
