Members of the Provincial Development Board have been meeting with the Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau to discuss growth initiatives within their provinces.

The first was conducted for the province of Nadroga/Navosa on Tuesday, second was held yesterday for Ba Province, which was held in Lautoka. The third will be held tomorrow for the province of Ra which will be held at Penang, Rakiraki.

“Yesterday we focused on the province of Ba which is from Nadi up to Tavua, upper highlands and maritime zone. The consultations will include the Roko Tuis and the district officer,” he said.

He said discussions would be based on water projects, rural electrification, road infrastructure projects, schools, health sector and agriculture.

“They will come up with their projects and we will prioritise them and see if they can link to the Government initiatives. After that we will submit it in the budget submission for next year,” he said.

“We are looking at developing rural areas and we are not forgetting the enhancement of the livelihood of rural dwellers.”

He said his team’s primary objectives were accessibility in terms of road infrastructure and access to clean drinking water.

“This is an ongoing routine and we normally hold these meetings every year.”

The meeting scheduled for the Ra Province will be held in Penang, Rakiraki at 9am.
