The committee of the Vodafone Gold and Water Carnival handed-over goods worth $3000 yesterday.

As part of their efforts to assist communities, the committee donated two brush cutters to the Tavua Town Council, electronic appliances to the Tavua Hospital and financial assistance to the Fiji Red Cross Society’s Tavua branch.

Committee chairperson and Tavua Town Council chief executive officer Temalesi Henfiro said it was part of the carnival’s social responsibility to give back to the community.

“The Gold and Water Carnival had been organised and held annually for the last three years,” Ms Henfiro said.

“The purpose of holding this carnival is to assist Tavua Town Council in the town’s beautification work and also charitable work.

“The carnival will be held from July 22 – 25 and Garvey Park, Tavua will be its venue.”

The committee is looking for at least five young women to be Queen contestants and they should be between 18 to 24 years.

“The 2015 Miss Gold and Water Queen will also be a contestant for this year Miss Fiji Pageant. Entry for contestants close on May 29,” she said.
