Less Rain Fall Expected

The Western Division is expecting less rainfall says the Nadi Weather office.

Climate Services Division’s principal scientific officer Ravind Kumar yesterday said we were actually in the dry season especially in the month of June – July.

“It is normal to experience pretty high variables of dry spell,” he said.

“Over the last two months all over Fiji the rainfall was too low. Overnight temperatures since Sunday night fell below 20 degrees even hitting 15 near the coasts and in the highlands.”

Mr Kumar said Fiji was expecting cloudy weather with some overnight or early morning showers about the South and East.

“Fine and dry elsewhere with a mixture of sun and clouds, mild during the day and cool at night with fresh Southeast trade winds slowly easing,” he said.

He said the outlook for the next 72 hours was for brief early showers about the South and East but nothing of any real consequence, and then fine throughout with some lingering clouds.

“The weather is expected to clear by the end of the week with fine, dry and sunny weather right across Fiji and this weather will continue over the coming weekend with no rain expected within the next 20 days,” Mr Kumar said.
