A new ready-to-drink (RTD) bottled cocktail will start selling in supermarkets soon.

The drinks are produced by the Davui Distillery Limited at Wailoaloa in Nadi.

General manager Michael Adams said he has been getting positive feedback from the market in the midst of tough competition.

“We just started production three weeks ago and will start with exporting very soon,” he said.

“We are looking towards exporting to Papua New Guinea, Australia and may be New Zealand and some other South Pacific and then to Asia.”

Mr Adams started with the establishment of the Nadi Bay Winery in December 2012 bottling wines which did not last.

“It did not work out as it was a year and half when I gave up. And I thought to give it another go.

“I’m glad I did because the winery didn’t work but the idea for the cocktails came up and started again in May 2014,” he added.

Mr Adams has invested $2.5 million in the distillery.

He came up with the idea to make a cocktail in a bottle.

“It is now made here in Fiji after nine months of research and development,” he said.

“This is unique as well, as the bottles are recyclable but the bottles are so beautiful no one will want to trash them.

“I have no distributors at the moment as they are just suppliers like I’m the distributors and everyone else is a customers.”

Mr Adams is expecting another equipment and factory to start RTD on the Fiji Vodka and Gins.

The product is an infusion of Vodka, with flavours such as Kula – Strawberry Daquiri, Maqo Viti- Mango Daquiri, Quwawa – Quava Daquiri, Wasawasa- Blue Lagoon, Parataisi-Tropical Sunset, Maravu-Mojito, and Moli Karo-Margarita comes in 11.49 percent alcohol.

The official launch is expected to be held on June 16 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.
