Students Show Talents Through Musical Event

Students of International School Suva (ISS) showed their talents through a musical event at Laucala Beach Estate, Nasinu, on Wednesday evening.

There were more than 136 students from their secondary and primary schools involved in this musical show.

ISS student director Ernest Gibson said, “It is an activity that involves wider community not just International School, but we invited people from around Fiji to come and watch.

“We take music, art and drama as part of the curriculum and art students get an opportunity to show their talents.

“The preparation was tough, but it was a fun experience for the students and it involved families and showed the different avenues that people take.

“I think not everyone is interested in school work so they tend to express themselves in other ways.”

ISS school principal Dr Anna Marsden said, “It gives an opportunity for the students to put in practice what they have learned throughout the year and they get to show their talents.”

A parent of an ISS student, Amerika Grewal, was also part of this event.

“I really enjoyed it. The kids have really work hard to put this event together,” Ms Grewal said.

The ISS musical event was based on the story Beauty Through the Eyes of a Beast and it hit the stage for two consecutive nights – on Wednesday and last night (May 20-21).
