Vatukoula will look to make a difference in the 2015 Skipper Cup when the annual championship gets under way this weekend.

This was relayed by Vatukoula Rugby Union executive committee member Vane Seruvakula yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsport during the Cup launch in Suva, the former Vatukoula Gold Mine administration manager assured the smallest major union in Fiji was ready.

“For this season, as you know the coach is not here at the moment; he is in Uruguay, but according to the executives, they are definitely preparing well. Even though the Skipper Cup competition has started late, the preparation of the team is going well so far,” Seruvakula said.

She said for Vatukoula, having a small player pool and a lack of sponsorship, were two hurdles they had to overcome in the lead-up to the new season.

“One of the issues we face is that we don’t have enough players,” she said.

Taking on a major role alongside her husband, Vatukoula head coach and Telecom Fijian Warriors head coach Senirusi Seruvakula, she encouraged other women to take charge in rugby.
