John Wesley Day is a day set aside for the Methodist denominations to remember the works of the man who initiated the Methodist movement.

Even though it is celebrated on May 24, Dudley Intermediate School, registered under the Methodist Church in Fiji set aside time yesterday to mark the event that is recognised in the church calendar.

Dudley Intermediate events co-ordinator Simon Krishna said the school decided to do something to get the children to learn about John Wesley more.

“Today we decided to celebrate John Wesley Day in the school and remember all his achievements as he was a very important man to the Methodist Church, so we made the celebration into something interesting where students compete in art and craft and the winners were announced today (yesterday),” he said.

Dudley Intermediate teacher Loraini Ravoka, said John Wesley was good at time management.

“We encourage the kids to stay in school and use their time wisely,” she said.

Year Eight student Latisha Palako won the art contest.
