Former Parliamentarian Dr Tupeni Baba says overturning Government motions in Parliament is a challenge for members of the Opposition.

Speaking at the SODELPA constituency meeting at Jittu Estate in Raiwaqa last night, Dr Baba encouraged those present at the meeting to be more aware of their decisions during the 2018 elections.

“Government won the majority of the votes which means that whatever laws, Bills, petitions and motions that are debated in Parliament their decision will be hard to go against as it all comes down to the votes. Let us hold hands and look forward to the 2018 general elections as this is where we can decide who to take our country forward,” Dr Baba said.

Questions were raised on how decisions were made in Parliament, the Government’s free water scheme, security of the iTaukei land and also the formulation of our 2013 Constitution.

Dr Baba said that it would be impossible to change the 2013 Constitution.

The meeting included Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki, Mikaele Leawere and Salote Radrdro.
