The spokesperson for Kilikali Squatter Settlement, Mesake Ratabua who is from Kalabu Village said residents sought legal advice to take their case to court.

He said the land at Kilikali was owned by his mataqali Matanikutu and it was outside their reserve.

The piece of land had recenty been bought by the Nasinu Land Purchase residents and they had issued eviction notices to residents and now the court order.

His house, he said, had been pulled down by Police last week and now he was living in a relative’s home.

He said he was also not happy with the Nasinu Land Purchase and Housing Co-operation for taking his case to the chief of Kalabu, Vaula Rasawiriwiri.

He is seeking clarification on the ownership of the land and will also meet the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB).

He said he had met the chairman of the Prime Minister’s Resettlement Taskforce, Kisoko Cagituevei, who advised the residents to follow the court order.

“No one is above the court order,” Mr Cagituevei told the resident.

He said the Nasinu Land Purchase  and Housing Co-operation was the owner of the land and had issued court orders for residents to relocate.

The landowner had given 10 acres of their land at Veiraisi in Nadera, Nasinu, for the residents to relocate to.
