A locally-produced movie that highlights exploitation in Fiji’s sex industry has been screened in Suva, with its director lamenting the lack of local acting talent.

The Hindi-language movie “Sahara”, meaning support in Fiji Hindi, was screened at the Damodar Event Cinemas at Laucala Bay with about 150 people including the cast and production crew with their supporters last Friday.

Director Satish Rai, who also wrote the script and edited the movie, was very happy after the premiere – judging by the audience reaction after the two-hour screening. However, the lack of local talent was his main concern.

The chief guest at the premiere, Acting Fiji National University Vice Chancellor Ian Rouse commended the team for the great movie.
