Members of Fiji’s tourism industry, including the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya, farewelled tourism visionary, Errol Fifer, in Nadi last night.

Mr Fifer returns to Australia with his wife, Anntoinette, at the end of this month.

He came to Fiji in 1970 and helped to establish Mana Island before continuing with other projects.

His tourism career saw him become one of the founders of the Fiji Backpackers Association, and the owner of Nadi Bay Resort Hotel.

The event was held at the newly-opened Nama Rooftop Bar, located at the recently opened Essence of Fiji Rejuvenation Centre on the Nadi Back Road.

It was organised by SKAL International Fiji, a member club of SKAL.

SKAL is a professional organisation of tourism leaders from around the world promoting global tourism and friendship.

It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. The organisation boasts 17,000 members in 400 clubs across 80 nations.

The president of SKAL International Fiji is none other than recipient of the 2014 Business Woman of the Year Award and owner of the Rejuvenation Centre, Debra Sadranu.

Ms Sadranu highlighted Mr Fifer’s contribution to the industry, and his support of SKAL through a membership dating back to 2000.

Essence of Fiji hosted the farewell event.

The event saw the launch of the Nama Bar to be managed by Victoria Wines, along with Essence of Fiji high-end ‘Nama Skin Caviar’ range.

The range is produced from nama seaweed cultivated in the Yasawas and supplied by Pacific Seaweeds.

The Skin Caviar range promises to be an exciting addition to Essence of Fiji’s current product line, having already influenced the naming of the new Nama Rooftop Bar.

Guests enjoyed vodka nama shots on arrival by Triple 3, and SKAL members received VIP cards from the Essence of Fiji Rejuvenation Centre.

This entitled them for discounted rates and exclusive entry to the members only Nama Bar.

SKAL International Fiji also thanked Victoria Wines and Taste Fiji for supporting its event.
